Chapter Events – Archive

We are beginning to build some history to our ISOC-DC Chapter, adding the records we have of events the chapter has held in the past.

We have some records from our web sites back over the years, back to January 18, 1966, held at the Freer Gallery of Art, jointly sponsored by the DC-ISOC Chapter (that was our first name), Office of the Senior Information Officer of the Smithsonian Institution, Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (Washington D.C. chapter), The Global Telecommunications Society, and The Institute for Computer and Telecommunication Systems Policy, George Washington University.

The event: The Telecommunications Reform Legislation:
Implications For the Internet and The National Information Infrastructure.

Purpose: To evaluate the impact of the pending rewrite of the Communications Act of America on both the Internet (e.g. censorship, universal access, etc.) and the broader NII (e.g. competition and concentration of ownership in media markets, the promotion of noncommercial spaces, public interest safeguards, etc).

Please, if you have any material concerning our chapter, back over the years — perhaps copies of web material, hard copies, photographis of chapter events — please let us know so we can better piece together our history.
